Illinois State was named a Great College to Work For in 2016 by the Chronicle of Higher Education—the only four-year public university in Illinois on the list.

Illinois State awarded and distributed more than $257 million in financial aid for the 2014‒2015 academic year, including $96 million in grants and scholarships, to nearly 17,000 students.
Illinois State is home to the Gamma Phi Circus, the oldest collegiate circus in the United States. The circus performs its Spring Shows each year at Redbird Arena.

Record-Breaking Freshman Class

Diverse Campus

This year about one-fifth of our freshman class comes from underrepresented groups, with a 10-percent increase in African-American students and a 9-percent increase in Latino/a students.

High Freshman Retention Rate
