The minor in Dance at Illinois State University offers a secondary area of study for those students whose career goals are enhanced through increased knowledge of dance skills, theory and history. This 24 credit hour program prepares students with knowledge and skills to merge dance with his/her intended career path.
The field of dance allows students to discover and hone their mind/body connection while learning theory and practice of the art form. Involving creative thinking and problem solving, a minor in Dance complements many major areas of study, especially those majors which need people to “think outside the box.”
Dance minor admission consideration is made each fall.
The number of students admitted into the Dance minor each year is limited and based competitiveness of the applicant pool.
* Please note the Dance minor audition is a separate audition from the auditions for the Dance major sequences. The audition process will involve an audition class incorporating class components from ballet, modern and jazz techniques. The audition process will conclude with each applicant having an individual interview with the Dance faculty. There is no solo performance requirement for the Minor in Dance.
