Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) at Illinois State is a nationally accredited program that has a longstanding history of preparing outstanding educators for our K-12 schools. Upon graduation, students are qualified to apply for Illinois certification and are eligible to teach in public and private schools, kindergarten through 12th grade.

Why Study Physical Education Teacher Education K-12?

Individuals with a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with a major in physical education can be certified to teach physical education at elementary schools, secondary schools, and community college. Physical educators that graduate from this program are prepared to provide high quality physical education that leads to the development of physically literate students who are prepared engage in lifelong health related physical activity.

Applying to Illinois State

Illinois State's preferred filing period for freshman students for the fall semester is September 1-November 15. Applying early is encouraged, as the University must limit enrollment due to space at the University and in specific majors/programs. Visit the Office of Admissions to apply today!
